  la vita roma

This week is a short one, with the Italian holiday of Ognissanti happening yesterday on the first of November. Italians celebrate All Saints' Day as a national holiday and as it fell on a Tuesday this year, many businesses had Monday and Tuesday off. Over the long weekend we planned to head outside of Rome for a couple of days, but with the second round of earthquakes on Sunday occurring in the central part of the country and other plans falling through, we decided to spend it instead hanging out and exploring Rome while the weather is still beautiful here (it was almost 70 degrees and sunny all weekend).

Halloween in Italy is a bit of a weird one because not many people go all out like in the States. Adults and teenagers dress up if they're going out to a club but other than that it's pretty low key. I was very excited to get some little cats, ghosts, and witches at my door doing the Italian version of trick-or-tricking, dolcetto o scherzetto. Luckily I had some candy on me and bribed them into saying the English version (so teacher-ish of me).
